CAREX Transfer of Knowledge Grants

As part of CAREX’s objective to promote knowledge transfer across the life in extreme environments scientific community and to favour harmonisation of protocols and approaches used, CAREX opens yearly calls for Transfer of Knowledge grants.

The primary aim of these grants is to contribute educating young researchers and catalyse knowledge exchange among the scientific community. Grants can be either used to provide short secondments of researchers to a group involved in research on life in extreme environments as a visiting scientist, or to support the invitation of a specialist from an advanced life in extreme environments field. In the latter case the application must be presented by the Institute hosting the seminar/course.

On January 8, 2010, CAREX opened its third call for Transfer of Knowledge grants. Ten grants (of which five will be dedicated to graduate and PhD students) will be awarded.

Grants (up to 1,500€) can be either used:

  • to provide short secondments of researchers to a LEXEN group as a visiting scientist (short visit grants), or
  • to support the invitation of a specialist from an advanced LEXEN-related field to give a seminar/course in the host institute (seminar grants).
