CAREX Laboratory Procedures Workshop

Presentations and Documents

The CAREX Laboratory Procedures Workshop  (programme) was held on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 June 2009 in Viterbo, Italy. This laboratory workshop was attended by 28 European and international experts.

The Laboratory Procedures Workshop aimed among other to establish a set of common measurement standards and promote cross disciplinary interactions. Procedures and techniques carried out during sample collection were discussed and compared. The overarching topic of workshop was along the lines "How can we make the laboratory situation realistically reflect what is happening in nature".

The workshop was characterised by invited presentations and extensive discussions both in plenary sessions and in working groups. 13 oral presentations were given during the workshop. Presentations can be downloaded from the tables below.

Different working groups were set out and focussed on priorities and challenges in laboratory activities for Microrganisms, Plants and Animals, on procedures for sample preparation and on harmonising lab methodologies and techniques.

A strategic report gathering the recommenations expressed during the meeting as well as proceedings will be published in November 2009.
